I'd definitely recommend it. Either that or a wide angle, I love them both. It's definitely not extremely light, but it'll probably feel much more balanced on your 60D. And thanks! The sky was ridiculous on Saturday.

When I got this a few years ago it was an amazing lens, it's still my favorite just wish I had a f/2.8 IS. On the bright side since that lens came out the f/4 is WAY cheaper now. Super crisp as long as you don't blow the focus (like I did on this one). Kicks ass for video too. Only downside is that this lens is useless in any low light situation.
